Weight Loss and a Busy Schedule - How Do You Make Them Work Together?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I know what your thinking, “I never have time to think let alone make a plan to lose weight!” It’s the common excuse of those that have tried and failed many times. This excuse is not valid in my opinion, as auto insurance quotes online won’t be a difficult task if you make it a priority and work it into your schedule as an every day part of life. Here’s how I mixed my weight loss with my extreme schedule and made it work.

The first thing I decided to do was write out my current eating schedule (or lack thereof) so that I knew what my current habits were like. I then wrote out how I would ideally like to set my eating and workout schedule up. After having the schedule I wanted written out on a piece of paper, I began looking for ways I could make it happen. For instance, I wanted to have 5 meals throughout the day, but 4 days out of the week I’m at work and pretty much am forced to adhere to my work schedule. So what I did was set up small portioned meals I could take with me to work and eat them on the breaks I was given. I knew that it would be a whole lot easier to follow a routine if I had it planned out beforehand.

With the eating planned out, I knew I still needed to find time to workout. Not only did I need to find time to workout, but I had to plan it within a 10 hour work day, which if anyone has worked them, they know how exhausting they can be. For my own personal benefit, I decided to plan my workouts before work as after working out my body is set up to burn more calories throughout the day. I also tend to be more energized which helps tremendously on those long work days.

If you have a very busy schedule, don’t think you can’t incorporate a healthy lifestyle into it. It may take some effort and some will power, but it IS possible. Just like anything else, the first week or two will feel different, but after a while it tends to feel like a normal day which is exactly how you want it to feel. Good Luck!

Warhammer Online Classes

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Character classes in Warhammer Online are different from some other MMOs. In Warhammer Online race determines the class. This means, you can’t be a high elf shaman since the only shamans are goblins.

There are many similarities between the classes across racial bounds and some obvious distinctions between the classes. Classes or careers are divided in to four distinct categories: Tank, melee dps, ranged dps and healer. I believe the original plan was to have one of each available to each race but not all of them were ready yet and had to be shelved. At this point there is no Empire or Dark Elf tank and no dwarf or greenskin melee dps type. I would guess they will be added into the game again at some point. Some classes are also restricted by sex. The Dark Elf Witch can only be a female while the Chaos Marauder can only be male.

Your first real decision though is choosing a side - Order or Destruction. If you can’t stand to be a bad guy then your choices are cut in half. If all your friends are rolling to Destruction, it doesn’t really matter if you like the high elves.

After that, you should decide what type of play style appeals to you the most. If you already play MMOs then its probably not that hard to recognize you prefer to blast from a distance, or prefer pet classes, or want to tank and take the beating. Warhammer classes do not vary from that mold all that much.

One refreshing piece of news is that healers are multi-functional. I have played four of the six healers and have bad credit home equity loan impressed by how much healers have to do. It’s no longer about sitting in one spot watching the green health bars, click and heal. Warhammer healers have lot more to do.

To those interested in Warhammer Online, I would recommend buying the preorder and getting in to open beta. This will give you about a week to try out the classes and decide which one is right for you. The preorder also gets you a head start on the release date so you can create your character and get out of the newbie zone before everyone else.

Repurposing Teleseminars Into Online Video Part 1 - What’s Online Video?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Your teleseminar can be easily repurposed into online video, such as a spectacular presentation, which is a new way of e-learning incorporating audio, video, and text. You simply take the audio from the teleseminar, put pictures to it, and that becomes an online video.

Another way is you can add different pictures to it dynamically and there could be a video tutorial, also called a spectacular presentation. These presentations are somewhat like Camtasia, but even better. You can create your own online video presentations, or have someone create it for you.

Take Spoken Words and Turn Them Into…

There’s video, where you take the spoken word and turn it into a spectacular presentation, incorporating multiple senses for better attention. The spoken word remains the same; it’s the form of presentation that makes all the difference in creating that video.

It’s an online video you’re watching, but it’s not like a movie video, it’s like a screen capture video and you’re seeing things on the screen.

Take All Kinds Of Things

You can capture all kinds of things from it, like pictures from the net. The audio hasn’t been changed, and you’re adding power by adding the video element, which is more active.

How do you use online video such as a Spectacular Presentation?

One way is by taking the audio and putting a still picture on it, which you can put on YouTube, one of the most popular sites on the internet. If it changes pictures, now you have a video of dynamic images and you just have audio playing to it. Another feature that can be credit card apply is screen captures. You can post these videos to dozens of video sharing sites online for great exposure for your website.

Spectacular Presentations

How do you use a spectacular presentation? They are ideal for a quick start program. Many people traditionally only use audio with their quick start programs, but some people may misinterpret what’s being said. What if they lose the speaker along the way or tune out?

One of the challenges with audio is that you can veg. It’s much more difficult to veg out with video. You have to pay attention, even if you’re vegging out in front of the TV, to understand what’s happening.

If you’re zoning out and not paying attention, then an audio without pictures is nowhere near as powerful as a spectacular presentation where you have changing text, pictures and graphics. It’s a video visual tutorial of your audio.

And another benefit to turning your teleseminar into online video or a spectacular presentation is that a format with video and audio engages people more so they’ll absorb your information and are more likely to follow-up with you.

Consider turning your most important presentations into online video or spectacular presentations with all the benefits of multimedia for best results.

Economic Current Events and the Environmental Bail Out

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

The recent economic current events cost u less auto insurance the global financial markets has prompted a response that is both too late to avert the crisis and does not address the root causes of the problem, which is selfish and greedy behaviour of people who are not held accountable for their actions. This is a worrying situation in its own right, but also points to more serious concerns about the approach of governments around the world in regards to environmental issues.

The bail out of the financial institutions threatened by the economic collapse was effected quickly and the resulting small increase in market performance was virtually instantaneous, though the long term effects of this situation are still far from clear.

These decisions have been made based on the advice of expert economists that have had the trust and ear of both the financial institutions for many years, though governments have been reluctant to act unless forced to do so by dire circumstances.

What hope then do we have for the environment? Despite equally dire warnings of impending troubles with the environment, governments have either been slow to act or have avoided acting to reverse environmental degradation. Will this trend continue until it is blindingly obvious that we are in the middle of a catastrophe? If so, throwing any amount of cash at the problem will not be able to fix it. We are treating the environment as if it can be fixed with a click of the fingers, just in the nick of time as the disaster is looming.

We need to get out of this short sighted, greed centered view of our impact on the planet. We need to take a longer term view of our effects on the planet and adopt clean energy strategies on a global scale with the technology we have available now. We cannot afford to wait until we are either drowning or choking, because by then there will be no way back. If this happens it is we humans that will become extinct.

It is time for governments to do what they are supposed to do: provide for the wellbeing of their people both for now and for the future through well considered long term planning in both the financial and environmental arenas.

Steelers Satisfied After Meeting

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

The NFL told many of the Pittsburgh Steelers star players that the NFL is not trying to make Hines Ward the subject of fines. The meeting was not common because it’s rare that the league has a meeting during the season to discuss fines.

NFL executive vice president Ray Anderson repeatedly told Hines Ward, Troy Polamalu, and head coach Mike Tomlin during a closed door meeting that was unannounced that their team is not being pointed out for discipline problems. Every team has discipline problems from time to time.
Now the Steelers can go on like nothing happened.

Ray Anderson and the Steelers now understand the fines the NFL gave to Hines Ward in the past weeks.

During the past two weeks, four Steelers players were fined a total of $50,000. That’s including $15,000 in fines to Ward for two plays that weren’t penalized on the field. That doesn’t make sense to me. If there wasn’t a penalty flag thrown for either infraction, then why is the league punishing them with fines? It sounds like they are singling the Steelers out to me. The NFL has given out 139 fines this season. The fines were supposed to improve player safety and conduct and no other reason.

“The meeting gave us a chance to get on the same page and, for lack of a better term, clear the air so this club could move on very confident that our interests are aligned with theirs and vice versa,” Anderson said.

Ward said the meeting “gave us a better understanding of why the NFL imposes fines. They told us their side and we explained our side. We have a better understanding and that’s all you can ask for. We’re on the same page now.”

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers QB, was among James Farrior and Ward while the meeting was taking place.

The meeting came about after Ward’s fines caused Steelers chairman Dan Rooney to write and Tomlin to call the league office for clarification.

The unfined Polamalu spoke out against the numerous fines being levied this season. He argued the league was taking the physicality out of a game he said was becoming “two-hand touch” and “flag football.”

“Given the discussion last week and some of the comments that were made by the players with regard to the genuineness and sincerity of our player safety initiatives, we just felt it made sense to come here and to engage directly with coach Tomlin and the players so we could talk things over and listen to them express their concerns about what we’re doing,” said Anderson, the league’s executive vice president of football operations.

Tomlin felt the meeting was productive, saying, “I think that’s the start at laying this thing to bed and moving on and focusing on what we should focus on and that’s playing football games.”
Anderson emphasized that an on-field penalty isn’t required for a player to be fined.

“You’ve got seven officials at same-time speed, they’re not going to catch everything,” Anderson said. “We are particularly concerned about player safety violations and we will fine you even though you haven’t been flagged.”

Ward learned from Anderson that he won’t be fined for a hit that broke the jaw of Keith Rivers.

But one factor which might stop students from enrolling in online school is that of cost, but the growing number of institutions that provide financial aid to these students shows that education is now merely a click away.

But students must take into consideration certain factors before they begin filling out forms for financial aid from the government. First of all you need to ensure that your chosen online college or university is accredited, as if its not, there is a high chance that your application would not even be screened twice. All you need to do to check out whether your online school is accredited or not is visit the US Department of Education’s website where they have compiled a list of accredited schools, or get in touch with the regional accreditation board for information. After that you can fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is used by the government to figure out whether the student is eligible for financial aid or not.

There are numerous organizations so as to help students by offering financial aid for online colleges in the form of scholarships and also awards. The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) assists students as well as their families by presenting financial aid information and resources to help students in acquiring their academic goals. OSFA is dedicated to providing quality financial aid services to everyone who needs help. Student Online System (SOS) and Financial Aid Office are other institutions that are involved in providing financial assistance.

Another resource is that of the internet, considering that there are numerous non-profit organizations that might not be available in your state or country; but provide help for bright children on the international level. Lastly, the perfect methods of applying for financial aid is by contacting the chosen online college’s financial aid office and ask for options. Need For Speed - The Evolving Racing Game

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Electronic Arts has done it again. The Need For Speed racing series is back with student loan consolidation rate vengeance, and it is thanks to the huge success with the Underground Series. Need For Speed came to life in 1994 with the title Road & Track Presents: Need For Speed. The original game focused on realism and was more of a driving simulator than an arcade style racing game. It also included high speed police chases which gave the game a lot of popularity. Need For Speed II did not include the police car chases and had a more arcade feel to it.

Each of the first two games had also a special edition. The sequel did not live up to expectations so EA brought back the police chases in Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit. It was still an arcade racing title but the Hot Pursuit mode had more depth than the first game and made it more fun to play. You even had the opportunity to be the cops. EA followed up their success by releasing Need For Speed: High Stakes/Road Challenge in 1999. Fans had mixed feelings about this installment and complained that the game had too many similarities to Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. But the game had a couple new innovations. This was the first game of the series with damage models. It also had a career mode where you bought cars and upgraded them as you progressed through racing tournaments.

The next installment of the series was Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Although it was a great success amongst Porsche fans and a great piece of work with the in depth coverage of the history of Porsche, it did not have the variety of the previous games. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 made its appearance two years later, but was not such a success as the first Hot Pursuit, due to the huge presence of arcade style racing.

EA played their cards right with the release of Need For Speed Underground. The game still had an arcade feel to it and there were no damage models. But did not compromise the game’s success. The introduction of import tuners and car customization made it a hit amongst fans. The game was completely revamped by also introducing a storyline to make it more interesting. The hundreds of different combinations of after-market parts you could install to your car, gave the game more variety and flair.

The soundtrack was excellent and fitted perfectly into the atmosphere of underground racing. This was the first game in the series that did not have exotic cars in its lineup. The career mode introduced in Need For Speed: High Stakes, came to full circle in Underground. Fans still missed a couple of things, namely network play and the high speed police chases. EA rectified the absence of network play in Need For Speed Underground 2. The game had everything the first Underground had plus more. New racing modes was introduced, new ways to customize your car, more after-market parts, as well as the free roaming world. Outrun races brought back the feel of the police chases fans came accustomed too. EA was obviously doing something right.

Need For Speed Most Wanted, the next release in the series, will have all the strong points of previous installments: the high speed, adrenaline rush police car chases that was introduced in the first game, there are rumors that there may be damage models in the game, but it is not certain, the demo may reveal more of this. There will again be a storyline in the game and the feel of the Underground series will still be present, so you will still be able to pimp your ride. Most Wanted also brings back exotic cars, but there will still be import tuners. So you will be able to tune those exotics also.

There will also be quite a number of new racing modes to look forward to. The objective of the game is to become the most notorious racer on the street by evading the police and leave your opponents hanging in the dust. It is clear that EA has listened to the fans throughout the series and implemented suggestions from the gaming community. Need For Speed always impressed in the department of appearance and graphics, and from what I’ve seen from screen shots and preview movies, the game looks stunning.

So Need For Speed certainly evolved into one of the best racing games ever. One wonders what EA will come up with next.
