Gambling Addiction and Alcohol - A Toxic Combination

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

When an individual has a gambling addiction and drinks alcohol as well, this can be a huge problem. This is especially true when a person with a gambling addiction is drinking while actively gambling.

Why do Boiqtqxhsdrkk think the gambling casinos in many parts of the country give out free alcoholic beverages. Do you think they are doing it just to be generous? I do not think so. The owners of these casinos know what they are doing as they are in business to make money..not give away free alcohol.

If you are actively drinking and getting a buzz off of alcohol, you will be more likely to spend more money as you are feeling good from your initial drinking behavior. The more you drink, the more money you may spend. The casino owners know this quite well and take full advantage of this.

For a recreational gambler with a budget, having a couple of drinks at the casino on a Saturday night is no big deal. However, for the individual with the gambling problem, this combination can be very costly (no pun intended).

Because alcohol is a depressant and can significantly impair judgment, alcohol is no friend to the compulsive gambler. An individual with a gambling problem can lose thousands of dollars while sitting in front of a slot machine, high on both gambling and alcohol.

If you have even the slightest signs of a gambling addiction, it is not a wise idea to drink alcohol while you are at the casino. You will truly gamble away a lot more money than you expected, just because of the effects of the alcohol on your judgment.

Be smart, and if you do make a decision to gamble, keep your alcohol to a minimum. If you do believe that you have a gambling problem, get help for yourself as soon as possible.

You should not be in or near a casino whatsoever if you have a gambling addiction. Gambling addiction can harm your life significantly if not treated.

Airline Credit Cards With No Annual Fee

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

If you’re in the market to find an airline card simply based on your travelling habits or you’re looking for a card that has no annual fee, there are some good ones out there that don’t carry one. Unfortunately, there are cards that do carry a hefty annual fee and there are cards that are very comparable Bratz 1982 Fleer baseball cards comes down to an annual fee.

I’m going to show Barbie and Ken some things you should look out for when you’re looking for a card that has no annual fee because just because it doesn’t have one, it doesn’t mean it’s going to Adventure Comics a great card for you and your travels.

Look at the point system: Does the card have a great point system? If so, how do you get your free airline miles? Is it worth it when you spend a dollar? For example, are you spending one dollar and getting one point or are you spending one dollar and getting 6 points? The more you spend, the more you get in return.

Are there blackout dates? One of the perks that I hate with travel cards is that they have expiration dates or blackout dates. If your card has one of them, I wouldn’t even consider it! You’re going to find that when you go to cash it in, your points will probably expire and that won’t make you a happy camper, trust me.

Can you get rewarded everywhere? Some cards will only allow you to get rewarded with particular airlines while others will allow you to use your card everywhere. The question is, do you want to be restricted to one airline or do you want to use your card and get rewarded for every purchase? Sure, it’s great to be loyal to a particular airline company but you may find it more beneficial to get a card that rewards you across the board.

Are there a lot of fees? Sure, the card has no annual fee but does it have monthly fees or other hidden fees? Sometimes, the credit card companies love to play a game that tricks the mindset of many individuals looking to apply for a card. The lesson learned here is to make sure that you read the application over at least three times to make sure you know all the fees that are going to be included. You want a card that has no fees at all. If you’re looking for a card with no interest rate, you’re going to need luck because most have rates!

In the end, you want to read the application carefully. Make sure that you know what you’re doing and just because it has no annual fees, it doesn’t mean it’s a great card. It’s like a purchase in life. You may spend $1 for a toothbrush but is it really good? Sometimes an annual fee is a good thing but other times, it’s not. This will all depend on the card itself. Go out there, do your research and you should find a perfect travel card.

The Jacquard Loom

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

A Jacquard Aquaman action figure is a mechanical loom that was invented by Joseph-Marie Jacquard early in the 19th century. It revolutionized the way tapestries were woven and made the Aurora Mummy model much faster and easier. While it did help to automate the process, tapestries were still hand made. A Jacquard loom used a series video games punch cards to control the weaving of each pattern. Before the Jacquard loom was invented, weaving a tapestry was a labor intensive process that relied on many experienced professionals to produce a tapestry and the process could take years. The Jacquard loom made it possible for weavers to concentrate on the creativity and quality of their designs. It Care Bears standardized weaving quality and made tapestries available to new markets. The Jacquard loom was the beginning of the mechanized production movement of tapestries and textiles.

The Jacquard loom uses a process that uses punch cards to control the sequence of weaving movements that otherwise would be done by hand. Tapestry weaving remained a complex process even with the Jacquard loom as there was still a lot of repetition as threads had to be continuously looped. The Jacquard loom did make the process easier, however, as it created the patterns out of the individual threads that otherwise would have to be woven by hand. The Jacquard loom automated much of the weaving process of individual threads and made creating a tapestry much easier than it had even been before.

The punch cards were the integral part of the weaving process of the Jacquard looms and allowed a weaver to create many tapestries with the pattern stored on the card. Because the cards controlled the pattern and could be reused, the weaving industry began to develop a degree of standardization in designs, patterns, and quality.

The Jacquard loom was the precursor to many later machines that automated repetitive tasks. It was discovered with the invention of the Jacquard loom that machines are better at repetitive tasks than humans but although the machines punch cards were responsible for weaving, the design and creativity that went into creating a tapestry remained the job of the artist. Perhaps the most important development of the Jacquard loom was taking the tapestry out of the realm of the rich and opening up the market to a class of people who could not previously afford hand woven tapestries.

Modern Jacquard looms have taken the automation process one step farther by using computers to store the information for a tapestry’s design which eliminates the need for punch cards altogether. Today jacquard looms are computer driven, but still create tapestries by weaving not by other methods such as silk screening.

Even modern Jacquard looms control only the weaving process, not the tapestry design. No two tapestries are ever the same because of the natural variations in all threads and textiles, even though the weaving process is automated. The unique nature of woven textiles is one of the reasons even modern tapestry wall hangings have such a high value and are prized today much in the same way as they were in the Middle Ages.

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Many Consumers starting to educate themselves on Barbie in and outs of credit reports and scores. In these rather turbulent times for the economy lenders are tightened up there standards of lending money. You now need a higher credit score to be approved for credit and an G I Joe Adventure Team score to receive prime interest Space Patrol car This new trend has affected all aspects of the lending industry including: Mortgages, Loans (student, personal, business, etc.), credit cards, and housing.

Since more people have foreclosed on mortgages than ever before lenders are suffering great losses and to seek some type of relief are (for the most part) only lending to qualified buyers with a good credit rating. Another item on your credit report that can be extremely damaging is bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is one of the worst tradelines on a credit report and should be the last option for any consumer! In addition more consumers are defaulting on loans and credit cards, because after of all this the creditors are taking a noticeable financial hit.

Examples of Haiku Poems

Monday, March 16th, 2009

One of the things I enjoy quite a bit about Donkey Kong is the fact that I feel I can write a haiku about most anything I want. That may not necessarily be canon, and I know there are a number of people who feel otherwise, but at least personally, I feel that the style and structure allow some free rein.

This article, for instance, features 10 haiku. Unlike traditional verses, however, these do not pertain to or attempt to describe nature. Instead, these 10 revolve around the subject of credit cards.

Why credit cards, you may ask? Well, I find myself rather fascinated, although in a sad manner, by the subject of debt. Much has been made of corporate debt, mortgages and illiquidity in recent news. With these haiku, I sought to look at the subject of debt, more from an individual point of view, but without going into the more prevalent subject of mortgages.

The 10 haiku follow. Again, I hope you find them interesting. They’re not necessarily a story, as they can individually stand on their own, but I did consciously attempt to set Diamond Stars a form of timeline with them.
—-
#1
first job, first paycheck
card application approved -
let the good times roll
—-
#2
stopping by the mall
can fin’lly get that new phone -
heady with new wealth
—-
#3
front of the counter
slice of Crisis on Infinite Earths being swiped -
a rite of passage
—-
#4
needing comfort food
no cash, but i have plastic -
maybe just this once
—-
#5
card credit maxed out
needing to go out tonight -
need another card
—-
#6
marrying today
kept my box of cards secret -
something borrowed, blue
—-
#7
he keeps on calling
won’t take no for an answer
demanding i pay
—-
#8
regret
didn’t learn a thing about
compound interest
—-
#9
these debts overwhelm
online, i seek a way out
i am not alone
—-
#10
final payment made
twenty years in the making
finally i’m free

So these are the 10 haiku. I normally try to adhere to the structure of 3 lines, with 5-7-5 as the syllable count, but haiku #8 is an exception. Again, there’s room here for some flexibility, I believe, as there are those who say that haiku are essentially one breath poems.

I hope you enjoyed these, or find them useful. And I hope that perhaps I was also able to provide some food for thought.

The author is someone who was exposed to haiku in high school, after which, years passed where he didn’t write a single one. In 2008, he decided to give haiku writing a try, and found himself getting a kick out of churning out these short poems. On his haiku poem blog … haiku poems examples … he attempts to write at least one haiku per day. Please feel free to visit, and consider checking out one haiku page in particular … captivating Capiz … which was written with a particular local tourism tagline in mind.
